There is a push underway to find a cultural center to serve Hillsborough, NC and northern Orange County, NC. A building is needed to house an auditorium, a gallery, classrooms, a museum, arts programming, etc. This blog will post updates on how the process is going. The Cultural Center Committee meets on the second Thursday of every month at 7 pm at the Hillsborough Artist Cooperative (102 West King Street, above Tupelo’s). We welcome your comments, either on this blog, or in person.

Who are the people on the Cultural Center Committee?

Hi Gail–Right now, we have an email distribution of about 40 assorted people, many of whom are members of the partner groups listed on the right hand side of the blog. A lot of these folks expressed an interest to serve on a steering committee that arose from the art summit we had in the fall. So, it’s a loose membership.
However, we are in the process of looking at incorporating as a foundation. If we go ahead with that, we’ll be putting together bylaws so we can define our membership.
Stop by one of our meetings some time!

I am a teacher and resident of “greater” Hillsborough and would be interested in receiving emails about your meetings. Will the next one be October 9?

Yes, Dena. I’ll put you on the distribution. Hope to meet you then.
